Houston does not need heat most of the year, which is exactly why the heating system gets ignored until the first cold front. Then the furnace that sat untouched since last winter has to start up on the coldest night of the year, and if it does not, the house gets cold fast. Hard freezes like the one in February 2021 showed how quickly that turns serious.
We repair and install gas furnaces and heat pumps for homes and businesses, in attics, closets and garages. Heating calls start with the safety side: ignition, flame sensor, burners, the flue and the safety controls on a gas furnace, or the defrost cycle and backup heat on a heat pump. Then we find what is actually stopping the heat.
When replacement is the right call, the new system is sized for the house, not just swapped for whatever fits the closet. The best time to check the heat is in the fall, before you need it.

Four steps, no surprises
How a heating call works
The same process on a single mini split or a commercial rooftop.
STEP 01
Tell us what is happening
Call or send the quote form with the problem, the address and the kind of system. Emergencies go straight to the phone.
STEP 02
We measure before we touch it
A technician tests the system on site. Temperatures, pressures, airflow and electrical, so the repair fixes the cause and not the symptom.
STEP 03
You get the number first
The estimate is free. You hear what we found and what it costs before any work starts.
STEP 04
We fix it and prove it
The work gets done, the system gets tested again, and we do not leave until it is running right.
Financing through Hearth
Pay for a new system monthly
Financing through Hearth lets you check your monthly payment options without affecting your credit score, so a failed system does not have to wait for a cash decision.
Common causes are a dirty flame sensor, an ignition problem, a tripped safety limit from a dirty filter, or a thermostat set to fan on instead of auto. On a heat pump it may be in its defrost cycle.
Do I really need a heating tune-up in Houston?
Yes. The furnace sits unused for most of the year, so a fall check of the ignition, burners, flue and safety controls makes sure it starts safely the first cold night.
Is a burning smell normal when I first turn on the heat?
A light dusty smell for a few minutes the first time is normal. A smell that lingers, or any smell of gas, is not. For gas, leave the house and call the gas company first.
Do you install heat pumps?
Yes. We install and repair heat pumps as well as gas furnaces.
